Transforming Your Surroundings

When it comes to the home we live in, the things we place around us and the design of each room have a direct impact on us. From the colors we choose, to the furniture and decor, it all makes a statement about who we are and creates a feeling within us.
Transforming a room is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to enhance our surroundings and completely change the energy of the room. From new bedding or lamps, to area rugs and pillows, or even adding an accent wall, there are many changes that cna be made for a beautiful result… a brand new look and new energy, which in turn impacts us and how we go out into the world.
Whether you are wanting to make changes to your living spaces or getting your home ready to sell, these simple changes make all the difference.
In the room transformations below, each room was carefully acknowledged for the space it was meant to be. From there, pieces were added and some were moved, to bring the room to life and make it more beautiful and inviting.

This home had 3 rooms that were upgraded:  Dining Room, Living Room and Master Bedroom. The beginning stage was to declutter each room, simplifying the basic layout of the room.

In the dining area, after decluttering, I moved the buffet to the back wall and placed an area rug under the dining table to ground the space.  I repurposed a lamp from the living room and added simple decor to the table and buffet, to warm the space creating a more elegant dining area.

This living room appeared very dark at first glance.  So my focus was to brighten the space and add some softness.  I placed an off white area rug under the furniture and added matching, textured pillows to the couch and love seat.  I also added a cream colored patterned lamp, large enough for the end table and included a simple tray for the coffee table.  These few simple changes completely transformed this room to a much brighter living area, especially with the light from the windows.

This master suite had a mix off colors that did not create a balanced feel.  I replaced the duvet set with a lighter patterned one and added textured accent pillows to compliment the bedding.  A white area rug was added under the bed and light gray stone lamps were placed on the nightstands. With the colors being lighter and simplified, not only brightened, but softened this bedroom, making it much more inviting…

This space was created from the ground up.  The accent wall behind the bed was done in “Bone Black” by Benjamin Moore.  The goal of this room was to create a coastal feel to the space with light colors for a darker space.

The bed, night stands and mirror above dresser is from the “Elements” section of Living Spaces, which has unique pieces to choose from.  The dresser and white mirrors above nightstands are from Wayfair.

Completing this coastal theme, decor with wood and shells were added.  Bedding is from Pottery Barn and Mongolian fur pillows are from Z Gallerie.

This dining area has the same accent wall and mirrors were added to create more light and a bigger space.  The dark champagne drape panels compliment the metal of the hurricanes and with the addition of wood decor lends itself to a very “Zen” dining area.

This beautiful Santa Rosa kitchen was a new build which needed to be staged.  My whole goal when I stage is to create a warm environment anyone could feel at home in.  Greenery added to the tops of the cabinets and the island, brings an earthly element to this space.

The builder, Fraser Construction beautifully designed this kitchen with reclaimed wood and matte finish countertops, which gives this space a very grounded element making it very easy to enhance its simple beauty.

Holly is very creative, professional, great to work with. She has the vision to create a beautiful home, great ideas, life time of memories. Great job ! Very impressed..

My girlfriend and I are two busy attorneys with neither the time or skill to furnish a home! Before Holly came to us, our home was sterile, bland and lacked character. Holly was very easy to work with and is very responsive. She came to our home prepared with ideas and pieces to try. She made our house finally feel like a home. We are so thankful for her!

I’m a single male living in an Luxury Apartment. To say I have an eye for what looks good, would be highly overstated. I am so Thankful for Holly from Grace Designs, and how she was able to spruce up my apartment. With a feminine touch, Holly was able to transition my apartment to my own personal santuary. Never thought my apartment could look like a home. She made it happen,I Love it.

I met Holly through a professional networking group. She helped me with bathroom design ideas and overall home design. She has inspirational and professional design ideas that I would never had envisioned myself. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge she has as well as the assistance in helping me implement the ideas into reality.

I have used Holly from Grace Designs OC for years on different projects and she has been an absolute joy to work with. Her ideas are always fresh and concise; she listens to mine and ultimately I always go with hers! Every project no matter the size she has always worked within my budget and is a complete professional. The shopping trips have to be my favorite though. Even though she is no longer in my area, I will continue to use her for all my interior design needs.
